    Unfortunately, Naltrexone is unable to save a person from alcohol dependence. It only helps to maintain abstinence in those who are determined to get rid of drinking. However, early research proved that while 54% of the volunteers who had received a placebo reverted to drinking, only 23% of those who had taken Naltrexone experienced a relapse.
