Does Naltrexone have
side effects?
Naltrexone is said to be nontoxic in therapeutic doses,
and does not have severe side effects. The person on
Naltrexone can usually be completely unaware on being
treated with the medication. However, a little number
of patients may suffer from nausea, headache, dizziness,
and fatigue. Even if being observed, nausea and other
symptoms usually disappear after a few days. In rare
cases, Naltrexone may cause diarrea, blurred vision,
anxiety, insomnia, and sleepiness. But for most patients,
these symptoms are usually mild and brief, too. Only
large doses of Naltrexone can be risky, as they can
damage the liver. When a patient experience excessive
tiredness, loss of appetite, unusual bleeding or bruising,
dark urine, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or pain in
the right side of abdomen, these adverse reactions may
demand Naltrexone to be immediately discontinued.
Important! Be careful not to confuse side
effects with withdrawal symptoms. Patients may
feel very uneasy if they start taking Naltrexone
before they are detoxified.
